Welcome to Episode 30 of The Pursuit of Enhancement Podcast.
My name is Peter Ledwidge and I am your host.
Each week I sit down to talk in-depth with guests that push the boundaries of conventional living, driven by the singular pursuit of being on an unrelenting quest to continually expand the horizons of their body, mind and spirit.
The aim is to learn more about them and from them; their story, the work they are doing, the highs, the lows, the triumphs, the heartaches and everything in between.
The hope is that these conversations might spark something within you that gives you cause for self-reflection, inspires you to embark on your own journey of self-discovery or gives you the courage to take a chance and go after your goals.
This week I’m a joined by Chris Moore, vegan fitness enthusiast and aspiring bodybuilder
Originally from Louisiana and now based in Northern California. At a young age he played a lot of soccer and was an active healthy kid. When he got to high school he stopped playing sports and by the time he graduated from high school he was at his heaviest weight of about 235lbs or just over 100kg. At this point he was not only overweight but also a smoker, a partier, depressed, anxious and generally unhappy. HE suffered with health issues such as indigestion, lack of quality sleep, feeling tired, bloated and fatigued. At 19 years of age he knew this just wasn’t right. he decided it was time to make a change and start putting things right again.
Chris has been vegan for year and a half now. He decided to go vegan because of the stress and anxiety in his life, he went to the doctor who prescribed medication but he knew there had to be a better way.
So he decided to undertake some research as to what might be beneficial in overcoming his anxiety. This was when he discovered the plant based diet and it’s ability to help alleviate the anxiety he was experiencing. Chris also made the connection between the negative energy associated with meat consumption and how that was manifesting in his body. Basically the pain, suffering and stress that the animal experiences in it’s life and prior to death is then transmuted into the consumer.
Flash forward 8 years he is now fit, healthy, depression and anxiety free, has quit smoking and drinking and hasn’t consumed animal products for over a year.
His transformation has been much more than just physical. This is his journey, who he was and who he is today. He no longer struggles with the self confidence to share his story.
His mission is to show others that if he can do it, they can too. Going plant based changed Chris’s Life. It helped him define the value of his life, gave him purpose, gave him an avenue to help people in ways he never imagined . It made him a more mindful person, brought him to the best health of his life and presents him with amazing opportunities every day.
At the time Chris started to embark on his journey towards going vegan he had recently become a Father, he wanted to make sure that not only was he going to be healthy for his son but that his son was going to be healthy too and he wouldn’t have to go through this learning process at 25, he could just grow up with the knowledge.
Chris studied nursing at college and is now a home health nurse. He has recently taken to online coaching and training, helping people to transition and maintain a vegan diet and lifestyle.
I’m delighted to have Chris on today, to hear his story and the knowledge he has to impart to us.
