The Pursuit of Enhancement Podcast Episode 23
Welcome to Episode 23 of The Pursuit of Enhancement Podcast.
My name is Peter Ledwidge and I am your host.
Each week I sit down to talk in-depth with guests that push the boundaries of conventional living, driven by the singular pursuit of being on an unrelenting quest to continually expand the horizons of their body, mind and spirit.
The aim is to learn more about them and from them; their story, the work they are doing, the highs, the lows, the triumphs, the heartaches and everything in between.
The hope is that these conversations might spark something within you that gives you cause for self-reflection, inspires you to embark on your own journey of self-discovery or gives you the courage to take a chance and go after your goals.

This week I am delighted to bring you part 2 of my conversation with Naresh Kumar
Trail runner and cyclist, undertaking long distance human powered adventures fueled by kindness & peanut butter
If you missed Part 1 make sure you go back and listen to that when you’ve finished here today.
To some he may be better known by his instagram handle @Iamarunr
His Mantra – Live-small, Adventure-lots
Today on the podcast we talk about
- The power of vulnerability, human connection, human relationships and unexpected kindness
- What he learned about himself on the long journeys, when he has by himself and had long period of inner contemplation
- Pushing your limits, giving everything you have, even it you risk failure, knowing you’ve given it your all, and seeing what you can do rather than staying reserved, in whatever area of your life that may be. Whether you fail or succeed you will always learn something about yourself that you never thought existed
- Running long distances in sandals
- Living simply and minimally, owning less to live more, how owning less stuff allows you the freedom to have more experiences.
- His future plans and a huge undertaking that he his planning for next year, to ride a tandem from india to Germany, a journey of over 10,000km.
I loved this conversation with Naresh, it is refreshing and heart warming. It is a reminder of what we can achieve when we join hands together, we all have the power to change we just have to be willing to put aside what we are doing or trying to achieve momentarily in order to come together in unison, and really if we are looking to be remembered or have something to show for our time here, that right there is the greatest legacy that you can leave and the greatest example that we can set.

End of Episode 23
And that brings us to the end of today’s episode.
The biggest take away for me was the Tales of kindness and compassion, and to use Naresh’s favourite quote ‘unexpected kindness is the most powerful, least costly and most underrated agent of human change.’ It is a reminder that we are here to help one another in whatever way we kind. Some, like Naresh, will feel a greater calling to help others through his adventures but for others it can be small gestures on a daily basis that can help those around us. If we take the time each day, even though we have our own struggles, to look for ways to help others, our troubles disappear because we forget about them momentarily. As zig ziglar said ‘You will get all you want in life, if you help enough other people get what they want.’
